      Cet omnibus N°1 rassemble les trois premières aventures de Frère Cadafael, ce moine herboriste et détective avant l'heure (nous sommes au XIIème siècle). On prend beaucoup de plaisir à découvrir la série. C'est plein de fraîcheur, de naïveté parfois, et le milieu monastique où évolue le personnage apporte un charme particulier à la lecture. Ni polars ni thrillers, mais des whodunnits historiques bien sympathiques!

      The Cadfael books are very interesting due to their time setting. Mysteries in medieval times without all the technology trappings are very interesting.The plots are a bit formulaic, as by the 3rd book we pretty much knew who the murderer was. Still, the writing is good and a peek into medieval life is intriguing. (Assuming that is accurate of course. :))

      The first three books in one volume: Morbid Taste for Bones, One Corpse Too Many, and Monks Hood. The text of the originals is complete, but the maps at the beginning of each book are missing in the Omnibus - a real loss for someone who likes to follow the story on the map. Had the three maps been included, the Omnibus would have rated 5 stars! For being so thick, the books are bound very well.

      This rather hefty collection has the first three books of the Brother Cadfael books. It was good to find this since buying them all separately can gradually become a bit time consuming and expensive. For Brother Cadfael books the trouble is worth it, but why go through all that if you don't have to? Plus, as an added bonus, the cover looks fairly pretty but, so you know, the one I received doesn't look like the one they show in the picture. The one I was sent is blue and has gold foil decorating [...]
